Once upon a time, when Brian Tracy did his tax return, his annual income was US$14,400. In 12 years time, Brian Tracy was able to increase his income by 100 times. The exact figure of the tax return he had to file was US$1,404,000.
When Brian Tracy looked back, he has figured out a formula that helped him to increase his income 1000%. He called it the “1000% Formula”.
Here’s how the formula works: if you make incremental improvement everyday, you will see big improvement in the long-run. You simply need to start making as little of 0.1% increase of your productivity every day. As you get rolling, it will get easier to keep improving yourself. You will start working earlier, harder and longer.
Here is a list of things you could do to improve yourself everyday:
- Each morning, get up at least two hours before you start working. Reserve the first hour to read something uplifting. This is what people called “golden hour”. If you are in sales, read something in sales. Prepare the right mindset for the rest of your day.
- Make a list of things you need to do for the day. Put a number beside each one of them and prioritize them.
- Single-mindedly work on one task at once and go on to the next one.
- Turn on an audio program for education when you are driving. Select only the topics that provide instant value to you right at that moment. This could be about sales, communication, goal-setting, time management and etc.
- Constantly ask yourself the following two questions: What did I do right? What would I do differently next time? This point is very important. Do not focus on the negative.
- Treat everybody you meet, family members and friends as if they are a million dollar customer and an important person of your life.
