Graphics and Media Production Expert - Sue Leibowitz: Organize Your Slides

This presentation tip is in the category:  Expert Advice about PowerPoint Design

Sue Leibowitz is the owner at Graphics and Media Production Consultant.  She had the opportunity to serve a wide-range of first-tier organizations such as Johnson & Johnson, MJM and Lehman Brothers.  Here are the three tips from Sue Leibowitz for you when creating your PowerPoint presentation:

  1. Set up and use the masters. They will help keep your file consistent.
  2. Use slide layouts carefully. Let’s say you create a table (a real table and not a tabbed text box) or a chart and you use a layout for that type of slide and then you customize the table or chart, resize it, move its position. Then the title changes and there is a lot less text so you reapply the layout. Your chart will snap back to its original size and position and you’ve got to redo that initial work. But I’m a huge fan of text layouts.
  3. Use header/footers and put your file name in it. Update the header/footer each time you change the file name. It will help you manage version control, especially when sharing files with clients.
