- The most important thing a speaker should have is a topic they feel passionate about. There is no reason to speak unless you have something to say.
- The next most important thing is ability. A great speaker is a great technician. They have the platform skills to engage their audience.
- The final quality is consistency. A great speaker never staggers from 80% to 100%. If the audience is giving you their time and if you agree to speak to that audience then you must give 100% every time, no matter what the situation. It’s not good enough to be good, great speakers are never satisfied unless they hit a home run every time at bat.
