If you would like the animation to happen automatically say after 3 seconds the slide was opened, you can set the timing at the “Start” section as shown below.
Here, choose the “After Previous” option. If you choose the “With Previous” option, the chosen animation will happen together at the exact timing of the previous animation. In this case, the previous animation is the slide transition which means you won’t be able to see the effect at all. 
Right click on the animation on the list, click on the “Timing” tab.
Here, choose the number of seconds delay after the previous animation.
Here is how it will look in the slide show. The text will not be shown on the page initially.
After three seconds, bullet point 1 will appear.
